Happy Birthday Coco Chanel!

129 year ago, on August 19, a fashion icon was born. Gabrielle “Coco” Bonheur Chanel (19 August 1883 – 10 January 1971)was a French fashion designer and founder of the Chanel brand. She was the only fashion designer to be named on Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century.  Chanel is credited with liberating women from the constraints of the corseted silhouette and popularizing the acceptance of a sportive, casual chic as the feminine standard in the post-World War I era. Coco Chanel has created timeless designs that are still popular today. Her “little black dresses” and iconic suits are still as fab as ever. Her classic pieces will never go out of style and will stay in your closet a lifetime.

Think of how many people have sat next to you on a bus, train, whatever. Now think how many people have sat next to you on purpose with their fingers crossed in hope that you’ll talk to them. I’m sure somebody has. There’s plenty of times when somebody’s seen you and hoped that you spoke to them, but you never did because you don’t have the guts and neither do they. Don’t go around thinking nobody likes you and that you’re not loved. There’s been plenty of times when a stranger has spotted you and thought “Oh, they’re just my type” but haven’t had the courage or confidence to open their mouth and initiate a conversation. The funny thing is, neither have you.

I am in love with vintage trailers! The color of this one, avocado green + cream.  WANT.

Always love a large black leather bag.  I think this one is Givenchy.

JERUSALEM (from ‘Milton’)
by: William Blake (1757-1827)

AND did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England’s mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England’s pleasant pastures seen?

And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!

I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England’s green and pleasant land.

EXPERIMENT: Seattle Lifestyle Blog, with a different point of view

Here is my latest experiment. Seattle Lifestyle Blog from a different point of view; 12 years in Seattle and to say I have not bonded with the city is an understatement.  I will blog over the next several months about my attempt to find a way to bond with and enjoy Seattle.  It would be nice to feel like I did not have one foot out of the state at all times.

Thoughts?  Well, here we go.

I enjoyed the midwest style rain that fell straight down, in large drops and hard accompanied by THUNDER.  So, yes, I am enjoying Seattle during a moment which is atypical for Seattle - is that a bad start?
